Mom & Dad Update From Luzern

To All,

We arrived in Luzern Saturday evening after a tour of Bern and a cheese factory. It was a beautiful drive through the rolling hills of the farm country with mountains in the background. We are staying at the spectular hotel Schweizerhof overlooking lake Luzern. Today we took a guided tour of the old city with its medevial archetecture. I took many pictures of the buildings especially for Matthew. This type of archetecture you will never see in the USA. This afternoon is free time to rest and roam as we please. Tonight is our farewell dinner. We take a boat trip across the lake to a fine resturant and have a group picture taken.

Our plan for tommorrow, Lord willing, is to get up early and take the tour bus to Zurich Airport. We will then pick up the shuttle bus to Zurich Airport Hilton. We are not sure yet if we will go into the city of Zurich. It depends on how we feel. Please pray that the Lord will give us the extra strength needed to handle our luggage during the airport transfer.

We leave the hotel early Tuesday morning for the return flight. We are looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Love,

Mom and Dad

NOTE FROM MOM AND DAD

Hi Everyone,

Here it is Friday and we do not know where the time has gone. We are having a great time and both of us are keeping well. Praise the Lord for His goodness. We went to the top of the European World today to the observation point for jungfrau at 11,323 ft and we both were not short of breath. Unfortunately, we were up in the clouds and it was snowing, however we saw the ice palace which was spectacular. Then the sun came out for a short period and we were able to see one of over 700 glaciers in Switzerland. We leave tomorrow for Bern and the next two days in Luzern. We love you all and will be glad to see you all again. Send this on to others as you see fit.

Love Ya,

Mom and Dad

Hanna Update

I received word from Hunter today that he is fine. They had no damage at Camp Lejeune. Hunter said that the storm was pretty bad and the winds were high, but nothing that was too damaging.

Thank you for keeping Hunter in your prayers now, and for the remainder of his military carrier.

Hunter in Hanna's Path

The marines at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC will be going on lock-down later this afternoon. Please be in prayer for all of the marines there, but especially for Hunter's safety as Hanna passes by.

The projected path of Hanna is to make landfall around the NC/SC border. As the storm moves inland it puts Camp Lejeune on the right side of the storm and exposed to the strongest winds and highest storm surge. Camp Lejeune is right on the coast. Jacksonville Map The worst part of the storm should be hitting the Jacksonville area early Saturday Morning.

Hunter lives within a short distance of the water, and has been instructed to not leave his quarters until the storm has passed, and the all clear is given. If anyone needs to leave their quarters for emergency reasons they are to wear their helmets and flack Jackets. The base commanders are taking this storm very seriously even though it is going to hit as a strong tropical storm or weak hurricane. They are concerned that it could still do serious damage to Camp Lejeune, and put personnel in danger.

Hunter will call after the storm, and as soon as cell phones are operating. I will update the Gilkenson Family Blog when I hear from him.
